GARDEN. OF PEACE r—s ■ . INTERNATIONAL APPEAL A "Garden of Peace" lias been established in La Plata, Argentina, by Alberto V. Oitaven, engineer and director 10f parks and gardens of that city, with the object of creating better knowledge and understanding between the peoples of different nations. The' Garden of Peace has been in existence for only one year, but already 51 nations are represented there with their national flowers". This is the first garden of the kind to be formed in the world. Its originator, Mr. Oitaven, belongs to the Rotary Club of La Plata, ind it was suggested that the Interactional Rotary Club should collaborate* and propose to the liotarians of the world the formation of Gardens of Peace in their respective countries. •'Ajj the residt of this appeal, plans fcre already in ha'nd for _the format-ion tif similar gardens in Rio de Janeiro, Ilrerpool, Geneva, Bremen, Caracas (Venezuela), Bogota (Colombia) and „ ~ . Xlio Ambassador of Great Britain, Sir Esmond Ovev, recently visited the 6ai!den of Peace at La Plata and plaited the white and red roses of Great Britain and the traditional oak teat by the Town Hall of Liverpool, *ifch was a striking gesture of AnglolArgentine friendship. Mr. Oitaven lias received many congratulations from national and international organisations for what lias described as a contribution or the greatest importance and value lor thft-pcaco of tho world."
