TOURING ATHLETES
EMPIRE GAMES TEAMS CARNIVAL IN AUCKLAND Mr. H. Jenner Wily, secretaryto the Auckland Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association, has re-' ceived a letter from Mr. R v M. Robinson, manager of the Canadian team which is competing at the British Umpire Games in Sydney, agreeing to th« appearance of the whole of ( his team a a meeting to be held at Carlaw Par on the evening of February 21. The Auckland provincial championships will be decided at Carlaw P ar ° to-morrow week, and the results o these events will enable the selectors to offer strong opposition to the visitors on the following Monday, more especi*, ally as they will be ablo to call upon the services of the Auckland section o the team which is representing Zealand at the Empire Games. There are 26 men and 11 ladies at* taehed to the Canadian athletic team» and, in addition to these, there are four athletes from Trinidad who will also be competing at Carlaw Park. The programme will comprise a series of short-limit handicap invitation events, toge'ther with relay races. In these latter, Canadian, Trinidad an Auckland teams will be in opposition, while in the ladies' section Cauada meet Auckland. ' -*| The meeting promises to be one of to. most outstanding ever held in land.
