CRICKET SEASON

SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP TO-MORROW'S ATTRACTIONS CLOSE FINISHES ANTICIPATED Close finishes should be a .feature of games to bo played under the control of the Auckland Cricket Association tomorrow, when the second series in the second round of the senior championship will be finalised. Jn view of the fact that the championship honours practically hinge on the results of tho two principal games at Eden Park the contests should attract a good deal of interest.

In the main attraction on No. 2 wicket Y.M.C.A. has set North Shore a difficult task. The former scored 3*JB in its first innings and North Shore replied with seven runs for no wickets. Y.M.C.A.'s total is not beyond North Shore, but the marino club will have to show better batting form than that displayed in its last few appearances at Eden Park to stand a chance of victory. Providing good wicket conditions ure experienced there should be little between the teams at the finish. Eden, which holds a six-point lead in the championship, faces no easy proposition in ParnoU's first innings' total of SiU'i. Victory in this game is vital to Eden, as a defeat would put either North Shore or Y.M.C.A. within striking distance. Both tlieso teams have yet to meet Eden in the second round. Most of tho Eden batsmen are in form, however, and they should make a bold bid to overhaul Parnell's scoro to-morrow. King's Old Boys appears to havo the measure of University on No. 3 wicket, already having a first innings' lead, but there is a chanco that University may turn the tables in tho second innings. Kings Old Boys scored J 1 in reply to University's first innings' total of and the latter has made five runs without a loss in its second innings. Ponsonby wilt be fulty extended in its attempt to avert an outright defeat at Devonport. Grafton made 100 in its first innings and Ponsonby. due mainly to the brilliant bowling of J. Cowie, was dismissed for :$!).
