POWER OF ASSOCIATIONS AMALGAMATION ADVISED [rROM OUR OWN correspondent] HAMILTON, Thursday "The time has arrived when there should be amalgamation several of the carriers' associations," said Mr. E. J. Phelan, No. 1 licensing authority, at Hamilton this morning. "Uniformity of control would give the associations far more power, and I would seriously advise a number in tho "Waikato dis--1 triet to consider amalgamation. "By this means," .Mr. Phelan continued, "differing opinions on the extent of the area to be covered by a proposed carrier's licence would be decided before the application came before the tribunal." The authority stated that, bv the prevention of ' pirating , by carriers, the associations could do valuable work, but its value was now made less by petty quarrels between different associations.
