WELFARE OF MAORIS
MORRINSVILLE CONFERENCE [by telegraph—own correspondent] MORRINSVILLE, Tuesday A visit was paid to the Maoris at Morrinsville during tho week-end by the Hon. Rangi Mawhete, M.L.C.. of Awapuni, near Palmerston North. Mr. Mawhete visited Tarapipipi to Waliaroa Taingakawa's pa at Rukumoana and met the chief and his people. In tho course of a conference lasting about three hours, he explained the Government's policy with regard to tho welfare of the Maori people. i\lr. Mawhete, who is vice-president of the Maori Advisory Council of the New Zealand Labour Party, will convene a further meeting at Morrinsville when the six members of the Maori Advisory Council will be present.
