INTOXICATION CHARGE
TAXI-DRIVER SENT TO GAOL
NO LICENCE FOR TWO YEARS

Thirty days' imprisonment with hard labour was imposed on Frederick Henry Hookham, a taxi-driver, who was charged in the Magistrate's Court today with being intoxicated in charge of a car. Hookham's licence was cancelled, and he was declared unfit to hold one for two years.
Mr. E. C. Lewoy, S.M., presided. A traffic inspector gave evidence that he was called to the scene of an accident on Friday night, and lie noticed Hookham under the influence of liquor Hookham drove witness to the Council Chambers, where witness took charge of the car and drove Hookham to be examined bv a doctor. When Hookham was driving the car he turned to tho left and put his left hand out in front of witness, who was sitting beside him. Hookham admitted having had six drinks.
