PRICES FOR WOOL

CRUTCHINGS LOWER

FALL OF HO TO 2D EXTRA SUPER MAKES 16£ D [nv TELEGRAPH —rRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Tucsday Good prices were realised at the first winter wool sale held in Wellington to-day. The offering was a large one, comprising about 4200 bales, mainly crutchings, but a few small lines of ileece wool were included in the catalogues. There was a large and fairly representative bench of buyers, and bidding was frequently very keen. A good clearance was made, the passings at auction being slightly under per cent of the total offering. The sale was a better one than had been expected. Prices generally ruled at from lid to 2d below those at the last Wellington wool sale on April 3. Bradford and Japan filled some good orders, as also did buyers on American account. New Zealand and Australian mills were strong competitors on lots suitable for their requirements. The top price was IGJd for a line of three bales of extra super crutchings sold by Murray, Roberts, Limited, a somewhat similar line making lOjd at the Wellington sale 12 months ago.

A line sold by Wright. Stephenson and Company. Limited, branded Whareha/.J.H.M. made 16Jd. Super lines of crutchings sold at 15d to loijd; good sorts,. 13Jd to 14Jd: slightly seedy, at 12jd to 13Jd; and heavily seedy, at lOd to Hid.
