NORTHCOTE BOROUGH
RATES SAME AS LAST YEAR Unchanged rates, including water, totalling Is Id in the pound on the unimproved value, are to be levied at Northcote for the current year. The estimates of expenditure and revenue were adopted by the Borough Council last night. The Devonport Ferry Company wrote stating that the alteration suggested by the council, that the 5 p.m. trip from Auckland be changed to 5.10 p.m. for the convenience of sports patrons, could be made, but it would necessitate omitting calling at Birkenhead on the return trip from Chelsea as on the Monday to Friday time-table. An alteration also would have to be made to the vehicular trip from 5.15 p.m. to 5.20 p.m. The Mayor was empowered to confer with the Mayor of Birkenhead with a view to securing the approval of that council.
