The Rev. J. W. Burley has been instituted vicar of Taumarunui. - Mr. Justice Herdman arrived in Auck< land from Wellington yesterday. Canon and Mrs. A. Williams, of Pukehou, Hawke's Bay, aro at Hotel Stonehurst. Mr. J. Jones and Mr. and Mrs. Sydney Jones, of Christchurch, are at the Royal Hotel. The Rev. C. J. Bush-King, formerly of Kawhia, has been appointed vicar of Huntly. Sir Andrew Russell was a passenger by the Aorangi, which left for Vancouver yesterday. Mr. C. B. Plummer, who has been on a visit to Sydney, returned by tho Maraina yesterday. Mr. and Mrs. R. D. Bakewell, of Opua, returned from a visit to Australia by the Marama yesterday. Mr. Clayton "Green, of London, Mr. H. D, Drummond, of Papua, and Mr.- R. F. Rcid, of Pago Pago, arc at Hotel Careen.: Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Reid, of Pago Pago, and Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Clark, of New South Wales, are at Hotel Cargen. Mr. F. Morrison, of London, Mr. N. E. Murron, of Mohtreal, and Mr. G- Willoughby, of Sydney, are at the Royal Hotel. Mr. S. Jensen, of Oslo, Norway, Mr. R. D. Manchester, of Detroit, and Mr. T. S. Donnelly, of Sydney, are at tho Grand Hotel. Mr. C. Trevithick, of Auckland, left by the Aorangi yesterday on a visit to the United States. He will be away for about six months. Mr. F. Aldinger and Mr. W. H. Preston, of Wellington, Mr. A. M. Pufflet, of Gisborne, and Mr. P. E. Miller, of Palmerston North, are at the Grand Hotel. The Rev. Lionel B. Fletcher and Mrs. Fletcher left on Monday evening for Wellington, en route to the annual meeting of the Congregational Union in Brisbane.
Mr. G. H. Colley and Mr.' W. McKinlay, of Sydney, Dr. T. McKibbin, Mr. J. C. Schneider, Mr. E. J. Spidey and Mr. H. E. Childs, of Wellington, and Mr. A. Hammersley, of Christchurch, are at the Star Hotel."
Mr. W. G. Leighton, architect, of Sydney, arrived by the Marama yesterday. Mr. Leighton will superintend the building of the new Civic Theatre on behalf of Mr. Charles Bohringei", the architect. He is accompanied by his wife.
