AUCKLAND WEEKLY NEWS.
VARIED PICTORIAL SECTION.
RESCUE OF KINGSFORD SMITH.
A wealth of excellent pictorial subjects from home and abroad is published in the current issue of the Auckland Weekly News, which is on sale to-day. Undoubtedly of foremost interest are photographs taken shortly after the rescue of Squadron-Leader Kingsford Smith and his companions in the wilds .of north-west Australia.
Pride of place is given to a series of illustrations secured during the recent visit of tho Government steamer Tutanekai to the Kerinadec Islands. Picturesque scenes in this little-known portion of New Zealand's island territory are certain to be well received.
From the old world is a number "of impressive scenes secured at the funeral in Paris of France's greatest modern hero, the late Marshal Ferdinand Foch, victorious commander of the Allied armies in the Great War. Other overseas topics pictured in this issue comprise the recent manoeuvres of the British Atlantic and Mediterranean Fleets, the union of the Royal Houses of Norway and Sweden, the Liverpool Grand National Steeplechase, the Oxford and Cambridge Universities' boat race and a wide range of miscellaneous subjects. A novel feature is a page of excellent photographs of tho leading lady aviators of the great nations of the world.
The grandeur of tho South Island winter scenery is faithfully reproduced in the series of views from Fox Glacier, South Westland. Additional New Zealand subjects include a portrait of the new Chief Justice, the Hon. Michael Myers, and illustrations in connection with the stranding of Marlborough airmen at Ship Cove, Queen Charlotte Sound; the close of the yachting season in Auckland; the North Island clay-bird championships at Whangarei, and Milford Track views.
