MURDER CHARGE FAILS.

WOMAN FOUND INSANE,

EVIDENCE BY THREE DOCTORS.

CASE FOR MENTAL HOSPITAL.

[by telegram:.—press association.] PALMERSTON NORTH, Tuesday,

Without retiring, a jury in the Supreme Court returned a verdict in accordance with the evidence given by three medical practitioners in connection with the charge against Agnes Simpson Mickell of murdering a four-yoar-old child at To Iloro. The jury, called upon to decide whether accused was able to answer the charge, replied: "We find the accused insane, so as to be unable to plead to the indictment."

His Honor directed that accused bo kept in strict custody at the Porirua Mental Hospital until the pleasure of the Minister of Justice was known.

Medical advice was given by Dr. Russell, Deputy-Director General of Mental Hospitals, that accused was suffering from acute melancholia, and that it was not desirable for her to appear in Court. Other doctors said accused was insane, and not responsible for her actions.
