ALLEGATIONS DENIED.
IYOUTH REVERSES HIS PLEA.
A youth, Edward Russell Everett (Mr. Noble), appeared before Mr. Justice Blair in the Supreme Court yesterday charged with attempted rape near Manurewa on March 27. The Court was cleared during the hearing. Mr. Meredith, Crown Prosecutor, outlining the case, said that the girl's screams on the roadside attracted the assistance of ft nearby resident, who, with others, came up and handed the accused over to the police. It was difficult, he said, to conceive a clearer case.
-The accused went into (he box and denied all the allegations against him. He explained his previous withdrawal of his plea of not guilty by saying ho was influenced by a detective to do so. Hie hearing will be continued to-day.
