SUPPORT FOR THE RIFFS.

COMMUNISTS IN FRANCE. MOROCCAN WAR OPPOSED. STORMY SCENE IN CHAMBER. ENCOURAGING ABD EL KRIM. By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright. (Received 5.5 p.tn.) Renter. LONDON .Tune 19. A message from Paris states that at the request of the Government the Chamber of Deputies, by 525 votes to 32, postponed sine die a Communist demand to interpellate the Government on the situation in Morocco. The Socialists voted with the Government. The latter have agreed to an interpellation on the subject next week. The Communists are seeking to force the issue between the Socialists and the Government. Tliey gave notice of their proposal to interpellate to-day, and quoted a telegram from London saying the Riff leader, Abd cl Krim, had made peace overtures to Franco and Spain through Britain and Italy. The Minister for Foreign Affairs, M. Briand, in demanding the postponement of the interpellation sine die, declared it was an irfcult to suppose that if an honourable opportunity for peace hud been offered the Government would not have listened to it. or would have allowed further blood to be shed in Morocco. The vote was taken amid Communists' cries of "murderers," "liars" and "down with war." After a meeting of the Cabinet M. Briand stated that the Government had discussed the question of Communist propaganda, and had decided on a policy toward the militant section of the Communist Party. The latter, said the Minister, was daily corresponding with Abd el Krim encouraging him to resist. It was .assuring him that the majority of the people of France were opposed to a continuance of the military operations. Le Matin announces that 120 arrests have been made in Paris and the provinces, in pursuance of measures for the suppression of the Communist propaganda in regard to Morocco. The Premier, M. Painleve, will shortly bring up the question in the Chamber of Deputies of raising the Parliamentary immunity in respect to Communist leaders who are deputies to enable them to be prosecuted. A telegram from Tangier says the situation in the western Spanish zone is more serious. Riff contingents are concentrating at various points along the Ceuta-Tetuan-Laraeho line.
