NOTED BILLIARD PLAYER.
ARRIVAL OF C. FALKINER. MONTH IN NEW ZEALAND. The English billiard player, Mr. Claude Falkiner, arrived in Auckland yesterday by the Aorangi from Vancouver. He will play two matches with Mr. C. McConachy, the New Zealand professional champion, in Auckland and Wellington. On his way to the Dominion Mr. Falkiner played a few games in Canada. He will remain in New Zealand a month, and will later visit Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and Colombo. Ho stated yesterday he was looking forward to his game with Mr. McConachy, whom he considered a very fine player. "It was hard luck for him that I beat him by eight points at Hortio last year," Mr. Falkiner Said. Among other things Mr. Falkiner is a keen stamp collector, and has a fine collection of all kinds of stamps. While in New Zealand be intends to look around for some rare Dominion issues.
