KATLA IN ERUPTION.
DISTURBANCE IN ICELAND.
OUTBREAK AFTER 58 YEARS.

Tho Iceland volcano Katla is in violent eruption, after being quiescent for 58 years. Flames aro rising thousands of feet above the glacier-clad mountain, and the country for hundreds of miles round is illuminated.
The Government is sending steamers to rescue the fugitives.
Katla or >Kotlu is situated in the southernmost portion of Iceland, miles from Ilekla. During the last ten centuries this volcano lias ejected cinders and water 15 times, but no lava.
