IMPROVEMENT OF ROADS.
MOUNT ROSKILL DISTRICT SCHEME,
A scheme for the improvement of a number of roads was considered -by the Mount Roskill Road Board last evening. Estimates were submitted by the board's engineer for paving in concrete of Mannkau Road, at a cost of £7875; Mount Albert Road, in scoria and shinglo £3757, scoria and shells £3091, blue metal £4530; Mays. Road, scoria and shingle- £1309, •Scoria and shells £IO7B, blue metal £1578; part of Dominion Road, scoria and Bhinglo '"£222 10s, scoria and shells £lB7 10s, blue metal £284 10s. It was decided to submit tho estimates to the ratepayers, with a view to a poll being taken on the wholo as one scheme, and to recommend that the Manukau Road be paved in concrete, ,and tho other roads in scoria and shingle, at a total cost of £13,173 10s," with an additional £3OO for laying the tram tracks in Manukau Road in Bituminous macadam The chairman, Mr. G. E. Tansley, was appointed to represent the board at a conference of local bodies to bo convened by the Mayor of Auckland to consider tho question of raising a loan for paving Manukau Road in concrete from the city boundary to the Mangero Bridge.
