CELEBRATION IN AUCKLAND.

The s.ini anniversary of the birth of His .Majesty the King was celebrated quietly in Auckland yesterday. In accordance wiih His Majesty's expressed wish there \va- no ceremonial observance of the event throughout the. Empire. Flags were flown from the Government, municipal, ami other buildings in the e.ty. and a close holiday was observed.

Matinees were hold at the Opera House, King's Theatre, and most of the picture theatres, in addition to the usual entertainment in the evening. At His Majesty's Theatre the staging of the drama One Summer's Day," by Auckland I amateurs, attracted a large house.
