DEAR STRAWBERRIES.
"EXORBITANT" RAILWAY FREIGHTS [BT TELEGRAPH.— CORRESPONDENT.] < •..-.. Wellington, Tuesday. Mr. F. W. Lang, M.P., is asking the Minister for Railways whether he is aware of the exorbitant rates charged by the Railway Department for the carriage of strawberries from Auckland to Wellington, and if so will he encourage this class of traffic by making a. substantial reduction in the rates of freight. Mr. Lang points out that the Auckland market is now glutted with strawberries and at the same time they are scarce and dear in Wellington.
