[F.ROM OOR OWN CORRESPOXDEXT.J Thjlues, Tuesday. New North Detox.—The improvement noticeable in the face last week continues. The lode now in hand is a strong body o£ quartz, impregnated with, black mundic veins. In the Sons of Freedom lode thesedark veins are considered the best indications of the presence of the precious metalin the stone. The country is much more favourable for carrying gold, and from the appearance of the lode it is anticipated betterclass crushing dirt will be obtained shortly, and possiblya run of gold picked up. The winze has been sunk about ten feet, and a portion or tho lode shot down, from which some very nice-looking stone was obtained, but no gold has been seen in it a3 yet Crushing for the company was resumed yesterday morning, and if good payable stuff can be turned out, it wifl be kept running for some time. The general appearance of the mine is much better than it was a fortnight since, and the indications point to a continued improvement. New North Cltoes.—There is no change of any importance to notice in this mine. The manager is pushing ahead the No. 1 drive, where he has a fine, strong lode in hand, with good indications for gold. The country is first-class, and.it is surprising more of the precious metal is not met with. _ Moanataiarx.—The manager reports cutting a fine, healthy-looking leader, about S inches thick, in the south cros3-cut, tunnel level, bnt i 3 of opinion that it is not the Point Russell lode. It is underlying very fast towards the tunneL or in a northerly direction. The country beyond - the lode, or on the foot wall side, has a much better appearance than that met with on the hangingwalL The quartz obtained in driving through, the leader is 'being saved, and will be tested to prove whether there is any gold in it ct not

Smile of Fortune (Owharoa).-— Yesterday Mr. Wick arrived -with about laOozs.of gold, obtained by the several tribute parties .. daring the past month, from this alius. From his own section 40 tons were crushed, for the fair return of 46ozs. 12dwtr. Hutchinsoa and party, sub-tributers, hate crushed a"parcel of 43 tons, for the excellent, return of Slozs. 9dwts.; and Cameron and . party put through 35 tons, for the return of-. 22oza. lodwts. gold. The mine is beiigj thoroughly opened np, and so far the prospects have been encouraging, in consequents. , of-which several parties have taken o? claims in the surrounding unoccupied ground. Mr. Wick also brought down a small parcel of loz. 17dwts., obtained by » party of prospectors on the Alangakara Creek. This parcel was valued at £3 p« r ounce.

Cokomandel, Tuesday. Corby.—The following is the. weekly report :—No. 1 lode is turning out good pay able crushing dirt, —the hangingwail leader shewing strong colours of gold, but it is much _ smaller than the footwall one.
