DISORDERS AMONGST THE ARAWAS.

[by telegraph, per press agency.] Maketu, Tuesday. Yesterday morning, on opening the Native Lands Court, after two days' adjournment, to give the natives an opportunity to send in names for certificates for the Paengaroa Block, lately passed the Court, and awarded to several hapua, the Tapuika and Ngaiipikiao Kaput, headed by Te Pokiha, all armed. with spears and other weapons, took poißessiom of the Court-house, and placed an armed guard at. the' door, to prevent the other hapua from entering and giving the names for certificates. In. the judgment giren . last week the Tapuika were excluded, and Ngatipikiao awarded a portion, but they desired the whole block, aud hence their obstruction. On the Judge calling for names for certificates, great disturbance occurred—natives trying to intimidate the Judges by a display of weapons,—but to no purpose. One of the Ngatipikiaos launched his spear at a native policeman who was trying to restore order. The policeman happily avoided it, otherwise seriou3 consequences would have ensued. Last week a Ngatipikiao witness was assaulted while giving evidence. Three large blocks lately.passed the Court on which Government have advanced money. Private individuals are hard at work, and will probably secure these blocks, owing to natives' double dealings.
