Australian Maid, for Awaroa; 5 bags flour, 15 pkgs furniture, 1 cow, Gildertson. .Rambler, for Wairau; 4 pkgs, Redwood; 1,000 talings, .202 felloes, 51 tons coal, Gibbons; 5 pkgs, Gorrie. • Wkeck of an Austrian Bratf.—Off Lowestoft, an Austrian brig drove on the east end ot the Holm, Sands, the most exposed part of the shoal, "where she' "lay exposed to the violence of a very severe gale from, the south and west, and the fury of a very heavy sea. The Lowestoft life-boat made an attempt to get to her, and saw twelve men clinging to the ship, but were compelled to return to tlie harbor. She put out a^ain with the Lowestoft; tug, the Rainbow, and found only the bare stern of the vessel out of the breakers, on which the crew were clinging. In the, face of the greatest danger, the life-boat made for the wreck, only just in time to save those who'were mercifully washed in the direction of the boat, A wave swept .every man from his grasp, and eight out of the' twelve men alone were, rescued. The life-boat then bravely fought her way out of the surf, and approached the Rainbow to be taken in tow, the news being shouted of seven being saved. The crew mustered twelve, including the pilot, who was hauled into the boat in an insensible condition, and died, before' they reached the harbor.
