WAIKIEKIE NEWS.
THE FARMERS' UNION A mooting of the Waikiekie Branch of the Now Zealand Farmers' Union was held in the Waikiekie Hall on Saturday afternoon; present—Messrs IT. Berridge (in the chair) A .T. Mason, M. Mason, A. Stephen, A. Love, F. C, Filford and E. Babe, and the secretary, Mr F. Cubitt. A letter from the Auckland Executive was read, dealing with the branding of cattle being detrimental to ihc ludes. It was decided to strite that the branch was of the opinion that iho branding should take place on the no.de. It was also decided to support the proposal for a Producers' Board. It was agreed to endorse the Auckland Executive's action in dealing with the D.airvmen-'s Union.
A proposal for an agricultural college for bov-* ;vas supported. The secretary was asked to write to the Dominion secretary urging that the sending out of remits from other districts should be continued. The delegate's report on the last executive meeting was read and accepted, hut the delegate's report on the hist meeting of the committee was held over pending further information on the lime question. It was unanimously decided not to support the schcme for a new provincial nrea in the North. PERSONAL Mr and Mrs Bunting and family h:tve returned to Waiotira after their holiday. ACCIDENT A horse which was being ridden through Mareretu last week shied and had its leg broken. The rider abandoned the horse on the road. Constable O'Gorman was sent for and destroyed the horse. SIGNS OF PROGRESS Mr Edge is having some alterations lo his residence, likewise Mr Berridge, who lias recently had his house thoroughly overhauled.
