PACT APPROVAL
ULSTER'S QUALIFICATION.
JUNCTURE WITH FREE STATE.
ABSOLUTELY ABJURED.
(Received D.IO a.m.'
LONDON, Jan. 24.
In consequence of the Collins-Craig pact Belfast bagmen departed to-day in search of orders in the South-West.
While Belfast approves the pact it remains adamantly determined not to join the Free State.
The Unionists attach the greatest value to Mr Collins' definite recognition of the Ulster Government which the pact implies.—A. and N.Z.
COURAGEOUS ACTION.
BENEFIT ASSURED.
LONDON, Jan 23
Dublin and Belfast are overjoyed at the agreement, though extremists in Belfast declare that Sir James Craig should not have met Mr Collins in any circumstances. Sir James Craig's action generally is praised as courageous, and as likely to end the terrible state of things in Belfast.
The agreement is hailed in Dublin as one of the most beneficial results of the new Government. Steps are being tak- - en to resume trade between Ulster and the rest of Ireland immediately.—A. and N.Z.
