J C. WILLIAMSON'S NEW DRAMATIC COMPANY.

"The Cheat" is reported as a spectacular i military drama of the best type, and has been spoken of in terms of enthusiastic praise by critics all along the line, as a play of fine construction, clever dialogue, exciting situations and engrossr ing interest. The Otago Daily Times § says: "In a play of incident everything :| depends on. how things are done. 'The $ Cheat' is glorified by splendid staging I and acting, and is raised to a very high dramatic level by the manner in which opportunities for acting of real quality are utilised." This play was a marked success in Sydney, and has won fresh laurels throughout the South Island, and during the Christmas season of the Company in Wellington. "The Flag Lieutenant," which will be staged to-morrow night, is also new to local theatregoersJudging by the success of this comedydrama in England, Australia and the Southern towns of the Dominion. there should be little doubt of its interest to local playgoers. The British Navy has been very much a popular topic of late, and "The Flag Lieutenant" is based on a very interesting story concerning the career of a young English naval officer. story is of great novelty, and full the most exciting incidents, while the scenery is said to be a revelation of accurate detail, particularly the scenes on ship board, in one of which a battleship's quarter deck, with big guns, is represented with wonderful realism.
