HOSPITAL BOARD.
The usual monthly meeting of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was held this morning. Present: Messrs J. G. Wilson (in the chair), W. G. Pearce, W. Stubbs, D. Howie, J. H. Vincent, L. R. Bryant, G. Kendall, C. Voss, H. Fowler, G. J. Harford, H. Haydon, and J. A. Nash. CORRESPONDENCE. From the Cambridge Sanatorium forwarding papers for Jans Larsen to be admitted to the Sanatorium. —It was reported that the patient had already been sent to Cambridge. From Dr. Valintine, stating that the Board's letter in reference to separate representation for Kiwitea and Pohangina on the Board would- receive attention when the representation under the new Act came up for consideration. — Received.
From H..S. McKellar, forwarding his donation of £2 2s, for which he was duly thanked; from J. D. Balmer. Colyton, forwarding £5 ss, in reduction of'account, and thanking the Board for its patience and consideration; from T. Breen v forwarding £9 2s in payment of his wife's account;' from C. A. J. Denney, forwarding £1 8s; from Miss H. Gill, remitting £1 14s; from R. P. Walsh, forwarding £1 Is donation; and from N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., forwarding £5 13s, received from the sale of a sheep donated by Mr W. G. Shannon.
From Paymaster-General, forwarding £1877 7s 9d to the Board's credit.
From the Foxton Borough Council pointing out that they had not taken any part in the recent Hospital Board election because they were grouped with Feilding, and Feilding could outvote them any time they wished. —It was pointed out that Foxton could hardly expect the same representation as Feilding, as its contribution was only £12, against £100 from Feilding. Mr Pearce thought it would be better that Foxton should be grouped with the Manawatu County.—lt was decided to forward a copy of the letter to Dr. Valintine. From tbo secretary of the Wellington Hospital v Trustees, asking if the Board would guarantee the expenses of Michael McDonald, who had come frim this district and had applied for admission at Wellington.—The Board declined to guarantee expenses.
GENERAL.
• The Chairman announced that in reply to a telegram from the Wellington Board he had wired that this Board heartily endorsed the protest against the clause in the new Act arbitrarily fixing the hours of the nurses. The clause was knocked out when the Bill came before the House. , Miss Inez Gallagher was added to the list of waiting applicants for positions on the staff. , The executive was given authority to enquire into and deal with the complaint of the matron about ono of the wardsmen leaving the hospital when his attendance was necessary.
