A general meeting of the Rugby Club was held on Saturday evening to make final arrangements for the annual ball to be held on September 2nd. It was resolved that flags for decorations be hired, while the catering is to be left wholly to Mr J?- J- Gapper. Complimentary, tickets are to forwarded to captains and secretaries of Taranaki Clubs. It is expected that this ball will, be the most elaborate ever held in Kaponga. Mr Dave Patterson's orchestra has- been engaged to supply the / music. Tickets can be obtained from, club members and from the secretary.

Mr Geo. Winters, of the Kaponga Club, has been selected to travel with the Junior Reps, in their Auckland tour;

A Kaponga fifteen journeyed to jMangatoki, and after an evenly-contest-ed game beat the Mangatoki team by 11 io 9.

Robertson, who has lately returned from a business visit to Hawke's Bay, will shortly be leaving Kaponga to settle in -the Hawke's Bay district, where his firm has been the successful contractors to bridge the Wairoa river near Frasertown. Mr Cave, Mr Robertson's partner, has already matfe a start with the contract, which is expected to be a 12' months 7 job. The bridge will be built of wood, Mr Robertson's departure will be a great loss to Kaponga, as' this gentleman has for years been connected with most of the local institutions, the satisfactory condition of which are in a great measure due to Mr Robertson.

The -Kaponga^ Band journeyed to JUahoe and rendered a programme of music on Sunday afternoon. The band has now finished the resolved upon, namely; giving Sunday afternoon performances at Riverlea, Awatuna, Auroa, Kapuni, MangatoMy Rowan, and Mahoe.

Thursday next ib the /da^ ' fixed, for the opening of the Ban^ Bazaar.' £he Chairman of the Town Board is to be asked td perform' the opening ceremony. At v the last meeting of the Executive prices for admission were fixed at— Afternoons : Adults 6d, children Free j evenings : adults Is, .children 6d. It is expected that the Manaia, 3§ltham, and Stratford Bands will be in attendance.
