FIRE BRIGADE MEETING.

A general meeting of members and intenduig members of the Rotorua Fire Brigade took place in the Reading Room on Friday night for the purpose of electing officers, forming a permanent committee and considering rules. The Chair was taken by Mr Corlett and there was a a good attendance. The secretary stated that he had received a letter from Super-

intcndent Hughes of the Auckland Brigade giving particulars of the price of hose and reels, action on which had been decided ou at the committee meeting on Wednesday. It was decided to write to the Hon. J. McKcnzio directing his attention to the formation of the Brigade and asking for any assistance that it might he in his power to render. It was also decided to communicate with the Fire Insurance Association. It was resolved that general meetings of the Brigade should take place ou the second Friday of each month and that membcrd should meet every other Friday for practice. It was also decided to ask the Town Board to act as trustees, to assist in every way in their power financially and otherwise, and to become an advisory committee in matters not affecting the working j details of the Brigade. The rules having been read over and agreed to, the following officers were ehoseir: —Superintendent, MrMnyci; captain, Mr Stewart; j foreman of hook and hidden - company, Mr Clarke; foreman of ho-'e company, i Mr Porter; treasurer, Mr Steel"; secretary, Mr Neighbour. Two tenders for the supply of hoso reel were returned and it was decided. t> call | for fresh tenders to bo in the hands of the secretary by next Friday night. Messrs Williams and Corlett were appointed :>s a committee to call on householders to ascertain what financial support they would give.
