PUBLIC WORKS.
The Public AVorks Statement was laid before the House on Monday night and contains the following items in respect to Rotorua: —Oxford-Rotorua road £'2oo, Tauranga-Napier road, via Tnupo, £IOOO, Rotorua-Wairoa road £.30, Rotorua wharf £l5O, Rotorua Water Supply £2OO, Works at Rotorua £SOO, Courthouse £250, Bath accommodation £IOOO, making a total of £3,350. It wili thus be seen that no provision has been made for the road to the summit of Ngongotaha, and that out of a sum of £ISOO required for the further extension of the water supply £2OO only has been provided, unless the £SOO item following is to be devoted to that purpose. A sum of £IOOO is to bo voted for improving the bath accommodation, a totally inadequate amount, but no doubt as much as could be hoped for seeing the smallness of the sum available this year. The Supplementary Estimates have yet to bo brought down.
