GOLFING AT MIDNIGHT.
What may bo regarded as an event altogether unique in the annals of golf took place at Lerwick tl e other evening, when fiiir members of the .Shetland Golf Club engaged in a fours.'me on the club's course at Annsbrae at tbeunusual hour of midnight. In those nprthern Litimdes at the present time there if. practically no night. A game of golf at what may be described as the " unearthly" hour of midnight ■was, therefore possible of accomplish tnent. The first bad was driven off from the tee at five minutes to twelve, aud a full round of 18 holes was played the match terminating at 2 30. Although the course is a somewhat hilly one, abounding in dyke hazards, not the slightest difficulty was experienced in finding the balls, the longest di ives being easily seen. Shortly after twelve o'clock the laik was heard in full song and by the time the match ■was finished it was broad daylight. On the two following evenings foursomes were played by olhor enthusiastic players. Golf at midnight is a thing, Tve imagine [.ossible to no other club in the kingdom.
