THE BIGGEST WOOL STATIO IN AUSTRALIA.
A correspondent of the Dunedin Star writes as follows :—Momba, where the wooisbed has been burnt down, is the largest sheep station in New South Wales, if not in Australia. the frontage of Mount Murchison, which belongs to Momba, you could ride in a straight line for about two hundred miles. It is owned by Sir Thomas Elder and Co., of Adelaide, who was the first to introduce camel teams to take rations to Momba, and return with wool. It is wonderful how little food these animals can live on—a few saltbush sticks and '.eaves being sufficient. Momba, in good seasons, has been known to shear from 300,000 to 500,000 sheep, but drought and rabbitp. have reduced the numbers considerably. Mr Hogarth, the manager of Momba, is a good employer—none better to his men.
