Mr. -.Bert Nightingale, manager of McKay and Son's Nelson branch, is at present on a visit to Greymouth, and is the guest of Mr and Mrs W. McKay, of Cowpcr Street. On.-'dit that Mr. G. E. Perkins will be appointed to 4 the temporary Town Clerkship. If this is so the ratepayers of Greymouth will be very fortunate indeed, for Mr. Perkins has the Borough business at his finger ends, aud there is no questioning his ability as an accountant.
Mr. and Mrs. AY. Robertson, of Tainui Street, lost their little girl early yesterday morning. The child was JS months old and passed away in a Jt of convulsions .Between two and three o'clock in the afternoon the little one ■was outside in her pram; half an hour later sho took ill. but all that human aid could do failed to prevent her death, which took jilucc shortly after .midnight.
