At the conference were presentMr Asquith, Lord Crewe, Mr. Lloyd George, Mr Birrell, Mr , Balf our arid Lords Lansdowne and Caw'dor. Mr A. Chamberlain hoped that Mr Birrell's statements were reassuring to the Nationalists! Lord Cawdor>.said ' that , the; Conser vatives expected- the conference to last -three weeks. , There* is no lawyer and no«ehairmani" /"' ' ( The Times*- says that there' being no limitation or conditions the conference looks hopefully for a working "compromise. Several Radicals have tabled questions to pin Mr Asquith to little or no concession.
