BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The County Council met at 7.30 p.m last evening, in the Council Chambers, Gresson street. Present : His Worship the Mayor, and Councillors Acheson, Dupre, Eissenhardt, Lahman, and Wickes. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The correspondence inward and outward was read, and applications for improvements to streets, footpaths &c, were referred to the Public Works Committee. The tenders of George Hay and Co., (L 579 10s) and of A. Matheson (L 557 10a 6d) for constructing culvert and approaches in Albert street were each up* wards of LIOO above the estimate, and neither was accepted, the matter being referred to the Public Works Committee. Two tenders were received for the formation of footpath in Herbert street — Butler and O'Donnell, L 17 0; Martin Shannon, L 155. The latter was accepted. The sum of L 25 was, for the ensuing six months, added to the salary of the Town Surveyor. After the passing of accounts for payment, the Council adjourned.
