WELLINGTON CLUB

Congratulations to the Wellington Amateur Athletic Club on the success attained during the past season were expressed by the president, Mr. A. C, Kitto, at the sixty-first annual meeting last night.

Mr. Kitto gave .aii emphatic denial to the idea that the club existed only for the benefit of the champions, saying that it fostered the coming athletes as Avell. Mr. Kitto said that the strength of the women's branch of the club could be greater and that the finances were not in a very satisfactory position.

Other speakers commented on various club activities, mention being made of the necessity of keeping flt in time of war.

Seven new members were elected,

Tributes were paid to the work done by Mr. Kitto. Avho was re-elected president, and by Mr. R. Spence, who retired from the position' of secretary, but was appointed treasurer. It was decided to increase the subscriptions of senior members to 12s 6d, reducible to 10s if paid by the end of January. Men on military service are to remain members free of subscription.

It was announced that the Hataitai ground Avould be available for training from tonight, and the jumping pits a week later.
