BOY'S NECK BROKEN
GYMNASIUM ACCIDENT
Having broken his neck in a gymnasium accident at the New Plymouth Boys' High School, Geoffrey Bartram, aged 16, a Wanganui boy boarding at the school, is in the New Plymouth Hospital, reports a correspondent. His condition is reported as serious.
Bartram, who is a fifth form pupil and was preparing for the university entrance examination shortly to be held, was exercising on apparatus in the school gymnasium in company with other boys. In executing a movement that involved releasing his hold on the bars, he fell heavily on thewthick matting laid as a protection. After attention by a doctor, Bartram was taken to hospital. It was stated that his injury involved complete paralysis of the loAver limbs.
