A PROMISING YOUNGSTER
One of the most impressive performances at Wingatui last Saturday was put up by the two-year-old Wild Coon. From No. 1 barrier position he jumped out brilliantly and led for a furlong before being headed by Gold Flight and Doria. He appeared to lose some ground at the top of the straight, but in the run home he finished on gamely and had the journey been longer he would have added interest to the finish. This was Wild Coon's first start in a race, and he was inclined to run about a little. It would not be surprising to find him developing stamina, as he is by Nigger Minstrel, and his dam, Miss Redowa, was by Balboa from Redowa, me dam of Baldowa, Red Boa, Redolent, and others.
