FIANCEE FORWARD
HAWERA'S WAVERLEY HAND
(Special from "Limited.")
HAWERA, October 16. ' Hawera stables will have a big representation at Waverley next Monday and the work of horses engaged attracted considerable attention during the weekend. The course proper was a trifle dead.
Fiancee, who is to make her debut in open company, acquitted herself well in covering five furlongs in lmin' 4 l-ssec. *
Judgment, of whom big things are expected, will probably be kept for the Auckland Club's Summer Meeting. Disturbed, who has been spelling since the Grand National Meeting, has benefited by the respite and has built up considerably. Taken over a round of the schooling hurdles, he gave a perfect exhibition of jumping. He is booked to race at Auckland at Christmas time. Prime Quality continues to please in his track work. Mahama finished in front of Chief Lord and Kilometre at the end of half a mile in 50 4-ssec, the smartest gallop of the morning. There was not a great deal between them and they are in capital condition for their coming engagements. Pretty Lass, who went under to that smart hack Sleeveless-at Marton, will not have such formidable opposition at Waverley and can be ticked off as a likely winner. She could have improved on her 51isec for half a mile on Saturday if ridden out. Whatever Veldette's mission at Waverley, she is certain of considerable Hawera support, as she is doing splendidly. Gitana Lass has not made the improvement expected from her early efforts and her form is most disappointing to owner-trainer, W. Porter, for whom a turn of fortune is due.
