THROWN OFF ROLLER
FARMER'S ARM MANGLED
(By 'Telegraph—Press Association.)
CARTERTON, This Day.'
A shocking accident befell Mr. Thomas Hicks, farmer, of Matarawa, yesterday when rolling a paddock. The horses bolted and Mr. Hicks was thrown to the ground. The roller passed over him. His. right arm was terribly crushed, the skin from the shoulder to the hand being completely torn open and the muscles and tissues wrenched from the bone.
He was admitted to the Croydon Private Hospital. It is problematical whether the arm can be saved. Mr. Hicks is 62 years of age today.
