MADRID TEST CASE
DEATH PENALTY DEMANDED
MADRID, July 8,
A former Speaker of the Cortes, Senor Julian Besteiro, moderate Socialist leader, was court-martialled on a charge of rebellion. The prosecutor demanded the death penalty. Sentence will be promulgated later. This is a test case, reflecting the whole position of political responsibility in Spain.
