WOMEN'S DIVISION
FIRST IN NEW ZEALAND
A unique meeting took place recently in the Railway Social Hall for the purpose of establishing the Wellington Railway Nursing Division, the first women's division attached to the railway to be formed in New Zealand. Mr. F. W. Ward, Commissioner in Charge of the Wellington District accorded a cordial welcome to the general manager of Railways, Mr. G.. IL Mackley, anu expressed the sincere thanks of the St. John Ambulance Bri. gade for the interest taken in its w;ork by the Railway Department. Mr. Ward was accompanied by Mr. V 7. W. Dutton (assistant commissioner), Mrs. G. W. Barltrop (lady district superintendent), Mrs. M. Russell, and Miss H. McKnight (lady district officers), Mrs. M. F. Gaby, M.B.E. (lady corps superintendent), and Mrs. R. Wilson (lady corps officer). Officer! and members oi the Wellington Railway Ambulance Division were also in attendance. Mr. Mackley in his address gave a full and comprehensive outline of tha work performed by the Railway Department in encouraging members to learn the principle of "First Aid to tha Injured." .
