South Island stables usually take a substantial share of the spoils at Trentham in July; but the only winners from those parts last week were Survoy, Slayer (twice), Mount Val, Fleet Street, and Wag- ] ner. The souths main success was in the three leading cross-country events. - . Trentham stables drew a blank . this year, their only return being seconds with Toper and Royal Show and a third with Kena.
