TURNOVER AGAIN UP
RACING ON HEAVY TRACK
Though no rain fell till towards the close of the card, the weather Was bleak and threatening for the final day of the Wellington Racing Club's Winter Meeting at Trentham on Saturday. Racegoers were undeterred by the conditonsi, however, /and the attendance was near if not a record for a winter fixture.
Rain overnight made the track very slushy again, and the going was heavier than on either of , the previous days. The ground, too, except where straw was laid, was very muddy. The investments were again well up. The turnover for the day was. £82,551 (£34,524 10s win, £48.026 10s place), as against £79,304 (£33,259 10s win, £46,044 10s place) last year, making a total of £197,258 10s (£84,509 win, £112,749 10s place) for.the three days, compared with £177,515 (£77,219 win, £100,296 place) twelve months ago, an increase of £19,743 10s.
