PROPOSAL AT CANBERRA
TO BE INVESTIGATED

CANBERRA, This Day.
The Assistant Minister of Territories, Mr. Harrison, announced in the House of Representatives that the Federal Government has decided to investigate a proposal that the territories of New Guinea and Papua should be administered from one capital located in Papua.
Mr. Harrison also stated that Cabinet had decided that Salamaua, the site originally chosen lor the new capital of New Guinea, would be the temporary capital.
