MR. A. M. HOWDEN

AUCKLAND, This Day
The death has occurred of Mr. Alistcr McDonald Howden, 64, former Auckland and New Zealand representative cricketer. He was born in Scotland and educated in England and at the Otago Boys' High School, He was employed by the Bank of Australasia in Invercargill and later in Dunedin. For over 30 years, however, he was a grain and produce merchant in Auckland, and had been a sharebroker since 1932.
As a leg-break bowler he won a place in the New Zealand cricket team against Australia in 1910. Before the war he was a top-flight golfer. He leaves a wife and foiu. sons, one of whom is lan Howden. a prominent cricketer.
