WORSER BAY NOTES
The 1938-39 season of the Worser Bay Boating Club was officially opened oi* Saturday last. In the absence of th* club's patron, Mr. T. C. A. Hislop, tfte, ceremony was performed by the Commodore, Mr. A. F. Mumford, and ta« club pennant broken out by Mrs. Mumford. ,
Representatvies of other clubs prosent were Mr. A. G. Harvey (Welling-, ton P.Y. and M.B. Association). Mr. Teague (Heretaunga Boating Club), Mr, A. Johnson (Evans Bay Club)/ Mr. Swanson. (Hutt Valley Motor-boat Club), and Captain Wilkinson (Muritai Yacht Club). , The club is fortunate in. having several additional boats in its fleet this year, the Vanita, from Paremata,' and two new boats, the Vulcan, owned by Mr. Ayres, and Elvine, built and owned by Mr. E. Swanson. Mr. Mumford has taken over, th» original Elvine, and has renamed it Kathleen. She should go well this season with her new sail.
The Minx has been purchased by Mr, P. Christensen, and is now registered as the Viking. This epidemic of changing hands and renaming! boat* concludes with the Valkyrie, which is now known as the Alma.
Today's race was for the Monkhous* Cup, and will be* counted as the first of club trials for "I" class honours.
