Mothers' Union Activities. Members of St. Jude's* branch of the Mothei'S' Union have had several very interesting speakers at their meetings recently. The vicar, the Rev. F. A. Tooley, conducted, a service in the church, at which four new members were enrolled, and Mrs. Creswell (of the Government Youth Centre) gave a talk on "Vocational Training." Later a very happy day was spent at the Frederic Wallis House, Lower Hutt. The Rev. F. A. Tooley conducted the service in the memorial chapel, after which Miss Lee spoke to members of three branches represented. At the •next meeting Mrs. Bullock gave an inspiring talk on the life of Josephine, Butler, one of the most famous women of the eighteenth century. The Effects of Colour. j The Radiant Health and Psychology Club met recently at the Jewish Club rooms. The president, Mr. R. T. McLean, was in the chair. Mrs. Albert; Russell, who is a. past member of the club, and now president of the Sydney Radiant Health Club, spoke on "Colour and its Effect on Life." There was a large attendance. Many questions were asked and answered, and Mrs, Russell was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for her very interesting talk. Tea Party at the D.1.C.. A pleasant afternoon party was given on Thursday at the D.I.C, tearooms by Miss F. Marks, who recently returned from a winter spent in Sydney. Her guests included Mrs. T. McLaren, Mrs. J. Campbell, Mrs, B. B. Couston, Miss A, E. Willkinson, Mrs, W. Simpson, Mrs. Ackroyd, Mrs, Baker, and Mrs, Ultan McCabe. English Counties Society. The first annual meeting of the English Counties Society was held in Lower Hutt on Thwsday night, when the election of officers resulted as follows: —President, Mrs. G. R. Cowie; vice-president, Mr. J. K. Hale; secretary, Mr. G. R. Cowie; treasurer, Mr. R, Barraclough; committee, Mesdames V. Jacobson, E, Weston, R. Lineker, Miss J. Weston, and Mr. P. Winnie. Plans were discussed for the Christmas social evening to be held in midDecember.
