ITALIAN CULTURAL CLUB

An exceptionally enjoyable entertainment took place last Thursday evening when the ■ Italian Cultural Club held its fortnightly meeting in the Lyceum Club rooms. Sig. O. Carraro presided' and the patron, Commander L. B. Vitali, was present.

Professor E. J. Boyd-Wilson and Sig. V. A. Truda held their usual classes of instruction. ;

The outstanding feature of the programme was a one-act comedy entitled "Rosalia," by Max Maurey. which had previously been translated from French into .English by Miss F. Huntingdon and from English into Italian by Sig. Comparini. The ). arts taken were as follows:: —Sig. Rodoni (Sig. Comparini); his wife (Miss Vera Mackenzie); and the stupid maid (Signora Comparini). Musical items then followed, including two songs by Miss Vera Mackenzie, "La Wally" (Catalini) and "Entrata di Butterfly" (Puccini). Mrs. G. P. Aldridge gave a brilliant performance of her pianoforte items, "Concert Elude" (Liszt) and "Polonaise" (McDowell). Sig. A. Comparini, who was the organiser oC the entertainment programme, also contributed two songs, "Non ti scordar di me" (Furno) and "Giunto sul passo ostremo" from the opera "Mefislofcle" (Boito). All the items were warmly applauded. The accompaniments were played by Mrs. Aldridge and Signora Comparini. The evening concluded with "Giovinezza" and "God Save the Kins." Supper was Ihen served.
