SMALL BOY DROWNED

PALMERSTON N., This Day.
Bernard Lawrence Prier, the two-year-old' son of Mr. and Mrs. R. Prier, of old Foxlon Road, was drowned at Shannon yesterday afternoon. The tragedy took place hear his home. Mrs. Prier was gardening at the front of the section, the child being with her. She had occasion to leave the garden for a short time, and when she returned she 'found that the boy was missing. A visitor to the home, Mrs. R. Roberts, assisted in the search that was instituted, and discovered him in a drain into which he had fallen. At the spot the drain is six feet deep, and there was three feet of water in it. Artificial respiration was of no avail.
