VISIT FOR CORONATION

When the last of the-Empire troops arrive in London about May 8, the total strength of the Dominion and Colonial Coronation contingents will be brought up to 1641 men, said the "Daily Telegraph", on March 31. ■ .-: Practically every section of the armed forces of the Empire will be represented, and their picturesque, uniforms will add considerably to the brightness of the London Coronation The scarlet coats of.the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the. blue .< and khaki of the Askaris from the King s African Rifles, the Indian turbans and the colour patches of the. Colonial militia forces will make a fine show when all the men are assembled. The next contingent to arrive will_ be the New Zealanders, who are making the longest journey of all to be present :-12,000 miles. The contingent will number 100, including 50 naval men who are coming to Chatham m Jthe New Zealand cruiser Dunedm. - The remainder of the New Zealand contm-gent-41 men and eight officers of the Army, a representative of the Air Force,' and two nurses—will reach London Docks, on board the liner Rangitiki on April 13. LONGTROUSERS. The members of the Southern Rhodesian contingent, who are quartered alongside the' Australians m the Wellington Barracks, have found that their uniforms, ■■■ with knee-length shorts, are unsuitable fov the English climate. Yesterday the men said- that many of them had not availed;themselves of the leave granted them, as they found it too cold to venture abroad in shorts. Tomorrow they are to be measured for warmer uniforms in a green material, with full-length trousers. The Rhodesians marched from their barracks to the headquarters of the Southern Rhodesian Government in the Strand. They were entertained there by the High Commissioner (Mr. S. M. Lanigan O'Keeffe).
