■ . Although threatening,,- the.weather held up for training operations at Hawera yesterday- morning. The course proper was available for.fast work with the pegs' 40 feet out. Tlie going, was fair, but slightly • holding. The best gallop"of- the morning was performed by Dancing Lady; who is1 to compete in the ■.. hurdle races, at the Egmont Meeting. . . .■ Fafner (Cole), galloped half a mile in 54Jsec, being picked up by Trilitho ■at the two furlongs. .- Mr. Kirkland's Australian-bred filly was having her first; sprint in company and shaped satisfactorily, beating Fafner home by three-quarters of a'length. Notium (Cole) was under a strong pull to run half a mile in 55 3-ssec. Master Limond did half-pace work on; the inside and is fining down. Dancing Lady (Hawkes) jumped clean away from Autumn Leaf (Grylls) at the six furlongs, having a break of three lengths at a furlong, . gone ■in 13sec.' She increased this to six at the three furlongs, which was traversed in 38 l-ssec. She slowed up to register 524 sec for her half-mile. Autumn Leaf continued on to register- lmin 22£secfor his six furlongs. Dancing Lady had-practically a straight run over three furlongs. Friesland (f (Monkloy) and Golden Rill (Cole) were well into their" strides on reaching the half-mile, and Friesland was in front at a furlong in 13sec. From there on he held Golden Rill comfortably to cover the four furlongs in 53 3-ssec. . • Corowa (Grindlay) gave a much improved exhibition over the schooling hurdles.1
